10 Time Management Tips

“Thoughts become words, words lead to actions, actions become habits, habits define your character, and character leads to your destiny.”- Lao Tzu

1. Plan your day

Planning the day first thing in the morning is the power you give to your mind to create it. The human mind picks up random thoughts, and planning helps to sort your mind with priorities. This aspect is the first step of being conscious of what you want to accomplish during the day.

2. Do the most difficult tasks first

Always begin your official work by completing the most difficult tasks. A sense of accomplishment that sets in once you do that.

The success which the mind can feel now creates more energy in you to do tasks with efficiency.

3. Do tomorrow’s task today

If you are clear about your actions for tomorrow, make it a habit to do it today. Begin by doing one activity. This habit leads to fantastic outcomes.

And needless to say, this is the most important habit that created every worthy accomplishment of great leaders.

4. Ask for help

Asking for help is a sign of humility. Not asking for help is a sign of ego. The workplace is an opportunity to create value. Humility as a character begins with the understanding that I do not know everything.

5. Invest in a Hobby and invest in Family time

When we say invest, we are not referring to money. We are saying, invest your time. Anything that you invest in should grow. At the end of the workday, you should feel spirited to enjoy your success. Share the success with your family and yourself. A hobby keeps your spirits high even during work time.

6. Delegate your work

Delegation begins by trusting your team or peers to contribute to a task. This act allows others to learn and grow together. Once the work is delegated it creates more time to work on your planned action.

7. Learn to say ‘NO’

Say no to any activity that comes up during the day that does not align with your goals. This is a challenging task for many. Saying no spontaneously as a response comes once your day is planned effectively.

8. Prepare an hourly schedule

Having an hourly schedule keeps you on track with your day plan. It mirrors how effective you are in an instant. This habit ensures better productivity and control of your time and efficiency.

9. Create a clear communication channel

Be specific and clear on how you wish to communicate with people. Personal email, WhatsApp, messengers, official email, phone calls, telegram, and many more tools are available today. Let people know how they can reach out to you and using which tool.

10. Prioritize ‘important tasks’ over urgent ones

More often than not, ‘urgent tasks’ tend to take away a lot of time. Important tasks are those that are aligned with your goals. Pay attention to them.

Practicing time management tips will de-clutter your life.

Time Management is a powerful principle on which to live life. As we practice more and more, we can realize time as a currency. Invest yourself into this age-old principle, and we may catch a glimpse of our innate abilities never seen before.
